|
| Custom Service Packages |
|
| Our service packages are always customized to your facility & operations. |
|
| - Our Phase 1 services provide
a framework for your energy initiatives. They set the yardstick of your buildings’ overall efficiency, define primary target
areas & set achievable short- and long-term energy- and cost-reduction goals. |
|
| - Our Phase 2 implementation services build on
this framework with in-depth analyses and a detailed action plan for realizing your near term energy- and cost-reduction goals.
We focus on CONSERVATION PROGRAMS and
OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENTS to cut energy waste 10%-25% before you make any capital investments. |
|
| - Our Phase 3 services delve into
the bigger projects—like new equipment, major building envelope upgrades and alternative energy generation/purchasing. As you start
saving energy costs in Phase 2, we formulate a capital investment strategy to help you reinvest in your energy future, and give
you long-term control over your energy budget. |

Federal Energy Management Program research shows
that behavior-based programs reduce energy use 10%-13%. Practical Energy Solutions
helped the West Chester Area School District cut energy consumption 14% & save
$250,000 in 9 months through Education & Awareness alone. Read the case
study here.

Phase I Services
|
|
| Introductory Scoping Audit |
| The PES introductory scoping audit shows you how your energy use and costs
compare with those of similar facilities, and identifies areas of energy waste that you can readily address. Services
include: |
|
-
On-site informational meeting.
We review your concerns.
-
Energy consumption overview.
We analyze your utility bills and create a clear
assessment of energy use & consumption patterns to give you a snapshot of consumption
anomalies, overbilling issues, peak demand charges and other opportunity areas.
-
CO2 emissions analysis.
We calculate the greenhouse gas emissions resulting
from your electricity and natural gas use, so you understand your impact and can begin preparing
for a carbon-constrained future.
-
Benchmarking.
We gauge your facility’s energy consumption against that of similar
facilities using the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager system and other databases, so you know how much opportunity
you have to save.
-
Pass-through assessment.
We inventory your energy–intensive equipment, ventilation, ductwork, HVACs,
hot water systems, peripherals (computers, copiers, printers, etc.) and lighting systems, and we provide a breakdown
of energy use by system.
-
Sample temperature logging
using proprietary diagnostic tools. We perform
a graphing assessment of ambient & supply air temperatures in select locations, giving
you a snapshot of HVAC run times and performance.
-
Spot survey of lighting levels.
We measure lighting levels in obvious problem areas and
evaluate them against industry standards, so you can address over- and under-lit areas while saving
energy and improving comfort & productivity.
|
|
|
|
|
| Audit "Plus" |
| You can add custom services to the Introductory Scoping Audit to meet
your unique needs. For example: |
|
-
Do you have specialized, energy-intensive manufacturing equipment? We can
assess energy use and patterns of individual pieces of equipment and provide an operational assessment checklist
to show you what your next steps need to be.
-
Do you want to focus on grant opportunity areas? We can delve into windows,
roofing, HVAC equipment, on-site energy generation, demand-response programs, and other areas, providing independent
justification for your best grant opportunities.
|
|
|
|
|
| Carbon Profiling |
| Do you want to get ready for carbon trading? Or perhaps you want to show you are going
"green" by tracking & cutting your carbon emissions. We can take a detailed inventory of your on-site fossil fuel combustion,
electricity use, transportation emissions, fugitive refrigerant gases, and other practices or systems that contribute to your carbon
footprint—and provide a professional, easy-to-understand report that demonstrates your commitment and creates a baseline for reduction
targets. |
|
| LEED-EB Gap Analysis |
| The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design—Existing Buildings program (LEED-EB, v3)
is an increasingly popular way for commercial building owners to "green" operations and business practices—and ensure competitiveness
in a future in which sustainability will be key to productivity. The current LEED-EB system (v3) is intensely focused on energy, with
44% of all credits covering on-site energy efficiency and alternative energy. PES will conduct a Gap Analysis for your organization to
show you how your current operations compare with the program requirements. The Gap Analysis also provides a pathway for certification,
including cost and time estimates. It gives you the information you need to decide if your organization should proceed. |

|
| Conservation Partnership Program |
| Practical Energy Solutions excels when it comes to
CONSERVATION, because we believe in the power of people to make a difference. In fact, our tailored Education & Awareness
programs empower everyone in your buildings to cut energy use 10% or more. And we keep the momentum going with monthly
tracking of energy consumption, costs and CO2 emissions, and we continually refresh the campaign with new, motivational training and
tracking materials. Click here to read about how we make conservation work through our Conservation Partnership
Program. |

|
| Operational Improvement Package |
| This is why we call ourselves PRACTICAL
Energy Solutions! Every time we survey or audit a facility, we uncover practical ways to save you energy and money through operational
changes that cost you little to nothing. This is our focus and our expertise, and we take the time to evaluate your whole facility for
these opportunities. |
|
| This package begins where the Initial Scoping Audit left off. It is a thorough,
longer-term assessment of your target operations that considers seasonal energy requirements and your specific facility uses. Services
include: |
|
|
|
|
-
Thorough energy waste detection.
We pursue problem areas identified in the Initial Scoping Audit and perform complete
visual and infrared thermography assessments of ductwork, roofing, plenum spaces, hot water piping, peripherals and
more to create a step-by-step plan for stopping energy waste.
-
Air temperature logging
using proprietary diagnostics. We record temperatures throughout the heating and
cooling seasons, and through varied facility uses and occupancy patterns. We track temperature recovery times and show
how close your actual system operations match HVAC settings.
-
Review of operational schedules,
including hot water temperatures, occupancy times & HVAC setpoints. Our detailed
assessment often reveals easy ways to reduce HVAC run times—and save serious energy without compromising comfort.
-
Rate & service review.
We perform an in-depth assessment of the suitability of your rate structure and charges,
and identify programs, suppliers, tariff opportunities and metering/peak demand reduction technologies that can cut costs.
-
Thorough lighting system & lighting level assessments.
We provide a detailed payback analysis whenever a lighting upgrade, new switches and/or occupancy
sensors will benefit you, and we include detailed recommendations of lighting level changes that will improve comfort and productivity.
-
Energy-intensive equipment review/monitoring.
If you have specialized equipment, we will monitor and evaluate consumption and usage patterns and
work with everyone to help reduce energy requirements.
-
Detailed investigations
into your specific operational/maintenance problems, including building monitoring and tracking of
energy use and costs, so you know where you are and where you're going.
|
|
|
|
| LEED-EB Certification Service |
| If you decide to proceed with LEED-EB certification after your gap analysis is complete,
we will take you there. PES can navigate your organization through the prerequisites, credits, performance measurements and
administrative tasks. We can provide as many services as you need— including energy monitoring/tracking, energy efficiency
improvements, policy writing, and more. |
|
| "Net Zero" Corporate Program |
| Do you want to aim toward carbon neutrality? We can build on your CO2 emissions inventory
and provide a detailed Building Energy Plan to guide you toward a "net zero" future in every aspect of your operations. For more
information, contact PES. |
